Cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon) can help  prevent urinary tract infections.  Cranberry fruit can prevent the formation of kidney stones, rise  HDL (good) and lower LDL cholesterol.  It also helps promote gastrointestinal and oral health.  Cramberry has dietary fibers and the essential dietary mineral, vitamin C, Phosphorous, Potassium, and Vitamin K.  Cranberrie is a good source of antioxidants.  Cranberries contain phytochemicals that assist in maintaining health. Cranberry juice can also reduce the amount of bacteria in the urinary tract (Harvard Medical School, 1994)
